American Airlines - Reactivate Expired Miles & Double Miles Through January 31st

Reactivate American Airlines Miles

Through December 31, 2011, you can reactivate miles that have expired on or after December 31, 2002, with no limit. Keep in mind that these miles don't count towards Elite Status and you must redeem these miles within 18 months. The cost is anywhere from $200-$600, see below. Make sure to do a calculation to see if it is worth it.
Here are the fee amounts from the AA website:

Reactivate Miles

Contact AAdvantage Customer Service at 1-800-882-8880 (ask for "AAdvantage Account" at the Main Menu)
Reactivate rates are as follows, plus 7.5% federal excise tax

$200 - to reactivate 1 - 50,000 expired miles
$400- to reactivate 50,001 - 75,000 expired miles
$600 - to reactivate more than 75,000 expired miles

It is not very clear what exactly we will be able to get, but apparently there will be lots of bonus' from lots of retailers. They will be continuously updating the retailers participating, but right now the participating retailers listed are:

What to do with Sears Gift Certificates? 10/$1 tomorrow at Ultimate Rewards Shopping Portal

Sears 10 points per dollar at Ultimate Rewards Mall

Tommorow one will be receiving 10 points per dollar for Sears. I plan on completing my 4 CitiCard spends by purchasing $3,000 worth of Sears Gift Certificates, for 30,000 Chase points. In order to use them up, I probably will spend $1,000 or so at mygofer.com, a Kmart online store where you can order groceries and small appliances and pick them up at your local Kmart. I hate food shopping so this really works for me! But that is not all, I plan on going through a shopping portal to accrue more points. I'm not sure if I can go through Ultimate Rewards from Sears to get to mygofer.com, if I can, depending on the points at the time, if they remain 6 points per dollar then I will accrue an additional 6,000 points. If not, then I will go through Mr. Rebates for an additional 6%, giving me back $60+$7.50 (bonus) see below, for a total of $67.50! See below (from evrewards.com)

Then, I will spend an additional $1,000 at Kmart when the Ultimate Rewards Mall increases their rewards for Kmart (maybe next holiday season). Or, just accept the 5 bonus points per dollar spent at Kmart for an additional 5,000 points when I need items from Kmart or when they have a good sale. Plus, now through February 29th, Visa is offering a discount of $25 on Kmart orders of $125 purchased through the Visa shopping portal, see below.

I will spend about $200 at Landsend.com (gaining me 2,000 points.com points (7.3%)), I hope this one works out because you can't earn miles for landsend.com through the Ultimate Rewards Shopping Portal. Anyways, I love the Landsend T shirts, so its worth it for me.

With the additional $800 Sears Gift Cards I will go to Sears and Kmart and exchange them for many Gift Cards to places like Ebay, Barnes & Nobles etc.. I will probably do a combination of selling these gift cards and purchasing items online through Ultimate Rewards for more points.

Well, this is the plan and you know the plan can always change!

I have written about the Gift Chain before, Amex is running a promotion where one purchases items from various retailers from $25 and up and receive surprise gifts via email from Amex. As per MommyPoints, I was able to get a $100 pair of boy's slip on dress shoes for $5.95. The shoes were $25+ shipping and taxes making them approximately $31. I received a $20 REBATE for first time buyers from vente-privee. Then I received a $5 credit from Amex. In the end, I spent $5.95 on a great quality shoe for my son!

Expired: Delta 25,000 miles with purchase of $500 with Skymall

Unfortunately, this 25,000 Delta for purchase of $500 with Skymall offer wasn't around for very long. With so many people taking advantage of this offer in multiples (buying 8-10 $500 items) this offer only lasted 16 hours or so.
I think we will be seeing on ebay and craigslist lots of Samsung Galaxy Tablets and EOS Rebel T3 SLR Camera and Lens.

US Airways Buy Miles !00% Bonus December 1-31

I just received this via email from US Airways. When you purchase US Airways Miles you receive additional miles equal to the miles you purchase. You can purchase up to 40,000 miles and receive 40,000 bonus miles. I believe that even with the bonus miles, this is so overpriced that it wouldn't be worth it to purchase unless one was close to the miles needed to purchase a reward ticket. Now, if they offered 150% .....
I have about 40,000 miles in my account from the US Airways Grand Slam and will need an additional 40,000 miles in order to use these miles for a ticket roundtrip ticket to the Middle East. In order for me to purchase 20,000 miles, and receive an additional 20,000 miles, for a total of 40,000 miles I would have to spend $700. Considering that I wouldn't be receiving frequent flier miles for this trip, I don't think it's such a bargain. If I were much closer to a reward ticket, say 20,000 miles, it would be worth my while to spend the money. I'll figure out other ways to rack up US Airways miles. I will probably just wait to get more miles next year with another Grand Slam. Hopefully there will be one next year.
